It is an ancient borough, dating back to the Domesday Book, and returned members to Parliament in the reign of Edward I. The church of St Michael was founded before the Norman conquest and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. The Ledbury Poetry Festival (July 3 -13) is now firmly on the literary calender and attracts some of the world’s most prolific writers, poets and actors as well as being a showcase for new talent.
